We've been keeping a secret from you, but we're finally ready to share the excitement

Picture it:
White sandy beaches, salty wet hair, being surrounded by people with one common passion: the ocean. And not just any ocean, but the Indian Ocean, home to teeming marine life. From whale sharks to reef sharks, from elegant manta rays to curious sea turtles.

But what if you didn't have to just picture it?
What if we told you this is the trip you've been waiting for your whole life? Island hopping and free diving across a country that is 99% ocean and 1% coral land, all while supporting active marine conservation efforts.

MALDIVES APPLICATION 2026

Now, it wouldn't be a SOSA Experience if there wasn't a purpose…

Breathtakingly beautiful, the Maldives is home to many marine species and coral reefs under imminent threat.

Overall, the world's reliance on fossil fuels continues to impact this delicate ecosystem.

Rising ocean temperatures are causing coral bleaching

Rising sea levels are putting Maldivians and land species at risk

Pollution and overfishing are leading to a decline in shark and marine species populations

So, what are we going to do about it?

SOSA has teamed up with Miyaru

Miyaru is a local shark conservation nonprofit, to bring environmentalists like you to the Maldives. You'll experience life on the islands, admire the incredible wildlife that roam its ocean waters, learn about the threats both human and animal populations face, and discover how you can be part of true change.

Shark Conservation?
Why are Sharks important?

Sharks are an indicator species, meaning the health of shark populations provides insight into the state of the ecosystems in which they live. By tracking shark populations, scientists and researchers can better understand the overall health of the oceans and all the wildlife, coral, and plant species that call it home. The Maldives is home to over 20 shark species, most of which are globally threatened, including the Great Hammerhead shark (critically endangered), Scalloped Hammerhead shark (critically endangered), Gulper shark (endangered) and Whale Shark (endangered).
