Blake Moynes Attends Oceana’s SeaChange Summer Party, Helping Raise $1.5 Million for Ocean Conservation

On August 17, 2024, ocean advocates and supporters gathered in Laguna Beach for Oceana’s 17th Annual SeaChange Summer Party, raising over $1.5 million for vital ocean conservation efforts. Hosted by award-winning actor and Oceana Board Member Ted Danson, the evening honoured Valarie Van Cleave, co-founder of the SeaChange Summer Party and longtime supporter of Oceana. Among the attendees was Blake Moynes, founder of The SOSA, whose passion for wildlife and ocean conservation aligns perfectly with Oceana’s mission.

Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Laguna Beach, the event featured speeches from prominent ocean advocates and a special performance by Grammy-award-winning singer-songwriter Lisa Loeb. Jim Simon, Oceana’s new CEO, addressed the guests for the first time since stepping into his role in July, highlighting Oceana’s recent victories in the fight to protect our oceans.

Throughout the evening, the organization celebrated more than 25 global victories from the past year, including efforts to reduce whale and sea turtle entanglements in California’s fishing industry and Amazon’s commitment to reducing single-use plastics. Ted Danson emphasized the importance of continued support, urging attendees to help ensure the next wave of victories for the oceans.
