Spectacled Bear Conservation works to protect the endangered spectacled bear and its habitat in Peru through community-led conservation programs. Since 2010, their Felti program has supported rural and indigenous women by teaching them the art of dry-needle felting to create handcrafted woolen animals. Each Felti is made from 100% locally sourced sheep’s wool and reflects careful, detailed craftsmanship.

Beyond creating beautiful art, the program provides a fair and competitive income, empowers women, and reduces human pressures on spectacled bear habitats by offering an alternative livelihood. Over the years, more than 100 women have been trained, and thousands of Feltis have been produced, helping build strong relationships between local communities and conservation initiatives.
