Fighting for Wildlife: A Look Into Global Conservation Force

Today, we're diving into the incredible work of Global Conservation Force (GCF), an organization on a mission to save wildlife from extinction through education, anti-poaching efforts, and conservation initiatives.

The SOSA has partnered with Global Conservation Force on multiple occasions, including our latest trip to South Africa. We wanted to take a closer look at their inspiring journey and impactful strategies.

It all began in 2014 when Mike Veale, fueled by years of witnessing the devastating effects of wildlife poaching, decided to take action. With a background in zookeeping and a combat-sport-heavy lifestyle, Mike possessed a unique blend of skills perfectly suited for the front lines of conservation. After rigorous training in South Africa's Greater Kruger Park, Mike became an anti-poaching ranger, facing the harsh realities of wildlife protection firsthand.

Upon returning to the US, Mike founded Global Conservation Force, driven by a relentless passion to make a difference. Since then, he has been tirelessly shuttling between the US and Africa, spearheading direct impact wildlife conservation projects, supporting local communities, and leading anti-poaching patrols.

GCF operates on four essential pillars:

1. Anti-Poaching

Through K9 units, mounted patrols, sponsored ranger training programs, and innovative technology, GCF strengthens anti-poaching efforts and promotes regional standardization, crucial for combating wildlife crime.

2. Veterinary Support and True Conservation

GCF extends support to in-situ conservationists, funds wildlife research, provides veterinary rehabilitation assistance, sponsors wildlife GPS collaring, and aids in emergency wildlife relocations, ensuring holistic conservation efforts.

3. Education and Awareness

With a focus on community-based conservation education programs, long-term educational initiatives, and international awareness campaigns, GCF empowers individuals worldwide to become stewards of wildlife conservation.

4. Counter Wildlife Trafficking

GCF conducts intelligence-driven operations at local, regional, and international levels, providing actionable information to law enforcement agencies and offering government consulting and liaison services to combat wildlife trafficking effectively.

By addressing these pillars comprehensively, GCF makes significant strides in safeguarding vulnerable wildlife populations and their habitats. Their dedication to conservation is not only commendable but also instrumental in shaping a sustainable future for our planet's precious biodiversity.

So, whether you're a wildlife enthusiast, conservation advocate, or simply someone who cares about the well-being of our planet, consider supporting Global Conservation Force in their noble mission. Together, we can make a difference and ensure a brighter, greener future for generations to come.
